Nanyang Technological University and Ajou University Sign MOU

Ajou University and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore have signed a comprehensive MOU which includes cooperation in education and research. Nanyang Technological University, established in 1955, is a national university in Singapore. Last year the university ranked 58th and this year 47th among universities worldwide, according to U.K. based ranking institution Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

 

On the 15th of last month, Dr. Jae-Hwan Ahn, the president of Ajou University, met with NTU’s President Dr. Bertil Anderson in Singapore to sign the MOU. Also visiting NTU to discuss the details of cooperation between the two universities were Euy-Young Soh, the vice president of the Medical Department, Ki-Young Lim, the dean of the School of Medicine, Bum-Jin Lee, the dean of the College of Pharmacy, Min-Koo Kim, the head of the Planning Office, Yun-Hwan Lee, the associate dean of Medical Service Research/Gerontology at the School of Medicine, Jae-Ho Kim, the head of the Department of Molecular Science and Technology, Byung-Hyun Min, the former head of the Medical Research Support Program, and Gye-Soon Yoon, a professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the School of Medicine. 

 

In addition to faculty members of Ajou University, Jae-Sung Noh, the center chief of the Gyeonggi Bio Center, and Sung-Jin Kim, the executive director for pharmaceutical business strategy at CJ CheilJedang, were present to consult on cooperation between Ajou University, Gyeonggi Province, and the pharmaceutical industry.

 

The MOU agreement between the two universities includes mutual exchanges of students, faculty, and adjunct faculty, as well as cyber lectures along with intensive lectures. Faculty members of both universities will participate in examining PhD dissertations for each other’s institution as part of a committee.

 

As a follow-up of the signing of the MOU, five faculty members of Nanyang Technological University will visit Ajou University on the 30th of this month. Moreover, Dr. Jae-Ho Kim and 35 engineering students from Ajou University plan to visit Nanyang Technological University as part of a self-development, study abroad program.
