Jin-Kook Song (a chemical engineering major) is an alumnus of Ajou University who immigrated to the United States with nothing to his name and became a successful entrepreneur. Recently, he donated $100,000 to his Alma Mater, Ajou University. In appreciation of Mr. Song’s generosity, the president of Ajou University, Dr. Jae-Hwan Ahn presented him with a plaque of gratitude on October 30, 2012.

Mr. Song is currently the CEO of Naterra International, Inc., which is a cosmetics company located in Flower Mound, Texas. Naterra not only deals with raw materials for cosmetics, but also has its own cosmetic brand. After graduating, Mr. Song worked at a cosmetic company in Korea, and in 1982, he immigrated to the U.S. and entered into the cosmetic ingredient business. By 1994, he was running a company.

Ajou University plans to create a scholarship fund tentatively called the Song Jin-Kook Scholarship and provide a scholarship to students with the interest earned every year.

Mr. Song said that he has always had the idea of making a donation to his Alma Mater in the back of his mind. He wants to help those students who might be in needy circumstances while working hard to achieve their dreams.

He added that he plans to invite one student every year to his company in the States for an internship opportunity and he would like to donate as much as possible towards that initiative.
